Hijab is the buzz word nowadays. Many people wear it but do we really know the real meaning of hijab ? Once , my lecturer randomly asked the class about the meaning of hijab. And me with other friends quickly answered that wearing hijab is covering our head. We are so sure that our answers are correct that we cannot be rational about the real definition of hijab.
And DING !!!
Our answer are wrong ! So , after coming back from class , I kept on wondering what is the real meaning of hijab and decided to search for it. This is what I found :
1. Hijab is not something that we wear only to cover our head.
2. The real definition is Hijab is a veil that cover the head and chest , which particularly worn by Muslim women beyond the age of puberty in the presence of adult males outside of their immediate family.
3. It can further refer to any head , face or body covering worn by Muslim women that conforms to a certain standard of modesty.
4. It is also worn as a symbol of modesty , privacy and morality.
